Lindsay Lohan to Host 'Saturday Night Live' March 3!
While watching Maya Rudolph's amazing return to Saturday Night Live this weekend (yay for Bronx Beat!), I thought I was hallucinating when I saw the title card announcing that the show's March 3 host will be Lindsay Lohan. But it seems I wasn't seeing things. The infamous actress, who is now much more well-known for her run-ins with the law than her film roles, will indeed be hosting SNL in just under two weeks!
The news has a lot of people scratching their heads – Lohan has no projects to promote, and she's currently on probation for drunk driving and theft. But she's got a pretty solid history with SNL – she's hosted the show three times before, she starred in Tina Fey's film Mean Girls, and the always topical show has never once made fun of her, despite the fact that the late night talk show circuit can't seem to shut up about her personal problems.
Considering how much the powers-that-be over at SNL (Lorne Michaels in particular) love Lindsay, this might be the perfect way for her to get back into the good graces of the television viewing public. There will surely be at least one sketch in which Lindsay makes fun of herself (the way Zooey Deschanel, the Olsen Twins, Nicholas Cage, and Miley Cyrus have done on the show in the past), and maybe, just maybe, if we laugh along with her instead of at her, this could be her first step on the road back to success.
I guess only time will tell. One thing's for sure, though – the world will be tuning in March 3 to see how she fares.
