Octavia Spencer Honored Martin Luther King Jr. in Golden Globes Acceptance Speech

Octavia Spencer took home the prize for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her work in The Help. The crowd went wild when her name was called by Bradley Cooper (not just because Bradley announced it), and when Octavia got on stage, she started off her acceptance speech by honoring Martin Luther King Jr.

Octavia said, "With regard to domestics in this country now and then, I think Dr. King said it best - all labor that uplifts humanity has diginity and importance. And I thank you for recognizing that with our film."

Octavia was moved to tears backstage after her big win. She told Access Hollywood's Billy Bush, "I got backstage and I just started crying,” the actress revealed to Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush after her big win...It’s been very wonderful. This is really overwhelming. I can’t even tell you. I’m so overwhelmed. I’m still in a state of shock… It’s wonderful."

It wasn't all so serious, as Octavia joked about how she needed to skip the parties and get home. She said, "I thought I was going to party all night but I don’t have it in me. I just want to go home, wash my face, de-Spanx. I got to take them off. I’m triple Spanxed tonight… I just want to pop them off!"

Well, we appreciate our honesty, and can feel a bit better knowing that celebrities wear Spanx... just like us!
